Epson Develops I/P Converter IC for Multi-Video Input

–Ideally Suited for Surveillance and Vehicle-Mounted Cameras–

– TOKYO, Japan, May 8, 2007 –

Seiko Epson Corporation ("Epson") has developed and plans to begin marketing the S2S65P10 I/P converter IC for multi-video input that is ideally suited for equipment such as surveillance and vehicle-mounted cameras. The S2S65P10 is an IC that converts interlaced signals to progressive format.

By using this product in combination with Epson’s S1S65010 network video camera or S2S65A00 dual camera compatible image controller IC, NTSC/PAL signals from a video decoder can be converted to JPEG. Since the product comes equipped with a large volume of SRAM, external RAM is not required. In addition, the product supplies four channels for video input and supports a wide variety of display output formats including stationary display output, automatic scan display output, and 4-input merged display output. This product is also equipped with a motion detection function. Motion detection allows users to conserve system power through host CPU interruption.

Information on Chip Sets Including the S2S65A00 Dual Camera Compatible Image Controller IC and the S1S65010 Network Camera IC
Epson has also developed and plans to begin marketing the S2S65A00 dual camera compatible image controller IC. Utilizing the S2S65P10 in a chip set together with the S2S65A00 will make it possible to hook up a maximum of eight camera sets (camera modules plus NTSC/PAL decoders). Alternatively, by using the S2S65P10 in a chip set with the popular S1S65010 network camera IC already on the market, customers will be able to connect up to four camera sets (camera modules plus NTSC/PAL decoders).
